The experience of motherhood varies from woman to woman, but what’s constant about it is it’s so damn tiring! What most moms-to-be find surprising is how quickly this fact can come into play. As early as their first trimester, women can start experiencing pregnancy insomnia.
What might seem confusing is that, as exhausting as pregnancy can be, somehow, it can still be a struggle for a mama-to-be to fall asleep at bed time.
If you’re reading this article, there’s a good chance that you or your wife has fallen victim to insomnia during pregnancy. And if you’re expecting and reading this at 3:00 A.M., here are some funny “what keeps us up at night” memes to get you through ‘til morning (or ‘til you finally zonk out).
1. You WILL have pre-baby jitters.

Just because you love babies and their squishy perfect cheeks doesn’t mean they’re not a little terrifying to give birth to.
2. If smudging with sage doesn’t work…

I would just like to say I do not condone any sort of violence. No annoying, self-righteous, know-it-all parents were harmed in the making of this article…
3. You’ll have days when you become this meme personified.

Nonna gets it.
4. Your body will start to “work” in confusing ways.

I mean, it wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen to a new parent. (Shout out to the super moms already slaying those middle-of-the-night baby feedings.)
5. Nine sleep meditations in and we’re still here.
If meditation doesn’t work, you can also try doing calming and gentle prenatal yoga poses you can do right from your bed.
All jokes aside, sleep is one of the most healing self-love practices we can give to our ever-changing bodies, especially during pregnancy. It might not feel like it right now, but you will get your sweet, deep sleep again someday. Hang in there, momma!
